Remembrance Day Assemblies – 17/11/2025

Remembrance Day Assemblies

In the UK, Remembrance Day (also known as Armistice Day) is observed on 11th  November each year. It marks the moment the First World War ended in 1918, when the Armistice came into effect at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month.

Last week, we came together at Bleasdale School to mark Remembrance Day with thoughtful and meaningful assemblies. Our students took part in reflections and creative work that helped them understand why this day matters. It was a powerful moment of unity for the whole school, reminding us of the importance of kindness, courage, and remembering others.

We also held a reflective service in the school garden, while a group of our pupils visited the Silverdale Cenotaph alongside our friends from Silverdale School. Back at school, we took part in a Remembrance Day “bucket session,” creating flour poppies on the floor as a symbol of reflection and respect. Each class crafted its own wreath, which we then laid in remembrance.

Interviews

Last week, we held interviews to expand our team of teaching assistants and support the growing needs of our school community. We’re delighted to share that two new teaching assistants will be joining us, and two of our current staff members have been promoted into new TA roles. We’re excited to see the positive impact this will bring to our classrooms and our pupils!

Children in Need

Children in Need is a major UK charity run by the BBC that raises money to support children and young people facing disadvantages across the country. Each November, the charity holds a large national appeal, including a televised fundraising show featuring celebrities, performances, and community events. The donations raised help fund thousands of local projects that support children dealing with challenges such as poverty, disability, illness, or difficult family circumstances. Its well-known mascot, Pudsey Bear, has become a symbol of hope and support, representing the charity’s mission to improve the lives of children and young people in the UK.

Last week, we held a cake sale at Bleasdale, organised and run by some of our students, to raise funds for Children in Need. We were also deeply grateful to receive generous donations from parents and members of the wider community, whose support made the event even more successful. Once all the contributions have been counted, we will be delighted to share the total amount raised.

Christmas Play Rehearsals Continue!

As we approach the festive period, our classes have been practising long and hard for the Christmas performances. The school is already buzzing with excitement as pupils prepare songs, dances, and special moments to share with families. We can’t wait to welcome you all and showcase the wonderful work the children have put into making this year’s performances truly magical.
