EHCP Reviews Have Begun!
Last week, we initiated the process of conducting EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan) review meetings for our students. These collaborative meetings bring together a multidisciplinary team that includes our SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), the pupil’s teacher, healthcare professionals, and other key individuals involved in the child’s development. Together, we assess the pupil’s progress, identify any evolving needs, and discuss strategies for further support. The outcomes of these discussions are thoroughly documented and submitted to the local authority, ensuring that the child’s EHCP remains tailored and responsive to their unique educational, health, and care needs.
Photographer
Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming a professional photographer to Bleasdale School, capturing beautiful, portrait-style photographs of our students. This special opportunity allowed us to highlight each student’s unique personality and character, providing families with a keepsake that reflects their child’s individuality. The photographer did an exceptional job of creating a comfortable and relaxed environment, ensuring that every student felt at ease during the session. We are excited to share these cherished moments with our community and hope these portraits serve as a lasting memory of this special time.
Headteacher Special Schools Meeting
Last week, our Headteacher, Sefton, participated in the latest Special School Headteacher Meeting (LSSHTA). Below is a summary from Sefton:
“During the meeting, we engaged in a comprehensive discussion on several key topics. We explored the growing demand for SEND placements and the strategies for expanding our provision to meet these needs. Staff wellbeing was a major point of focus, with attention to how we can better support the mental health and resilience of our teams. We also considered ways in which SEND schools can serve as a resource for mainstream institutions, fostering collaboration to ensure all students receive the support they need. Lastly, we discussed the ongoing evolution of our curriculum, ensuring that it remains aligned with national SEND priorities and continues to meet the diverse needs of our learners.”
Booths Supermarket Visit/Pop-Up Shop Update
Last week, we were thrilled to welcome a team from Booths Supermarket once again, as they visited to take additional measurements for the design of our new pop-up shop. Their creative vision is taking shape, with exciting plans to feature a bespoke mural on the wall—an artistic touch that will make the space truly stand out. The anticipation is building, and we’re eager to see the result as our new pop-up shop comes to life. Stay tuned for what promises to be an inspiring and beautifully curated shopping experience!
Harvest Festival
The Harvest Festival is a cherished tradition that celebrates the season of abundance when crops are gathered from the fields, offering us a moment to pause, reflect, and express gratitude for the food that sustains us. This time-honoured custom has deep roots in British history, originating from the days when communities relied heavily on their harvests for survival, and farmers would give thanks for a bountiful yield.
Today, at Bleasdale School, we proudly continue this tradition, not only in celebration but in the spirit of generosity. Each year, we collect food to support those in need within our local community. Thanks to the incredible kindness and contributions from the Bleasdale community, we’ve once again received an outpouring of donations to share with those less fortunate.
Your generosity reflects the true heart of the Harvest Festival, turning the celebration of abundance into an act of giving. Together, we’re not only honouring tradition but also uplifting our neighbours. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed—your support makes a real difference!
What’s Been Going on Around School?
This term in Hedgehogs class, we are learning about the texture of sounds in music. We are achieving this through a weather walk and the use of a resonance board. The students in Hedgehogs class love feeling the vibration when we tap it! We all look forward to this session every week.
