Diwali; the Festival of Lights! – 04/11/2024

What’s Been Going on Around School?

Falcons class enjoyed their inaugural visit to our brand-new Booths shop! Students proudly stocked the shelves with their own enterprise items and explored the space. We’re thrilled to kick off weekly employment sessions every Wednesday in this fantastic new setting.

Butterfly Class’s First Visit to the Local Co-Op Shop

Last week, our Butterfly class took their first trip of the academic year to the local Co-Op shop to purchase various food items, a valuable, hands-on learning experience designed to teach essential life skills to our SEN pupils. Through this activity, students had the opportunity to explore practical aspects of budgeting, decision-making, and social interaction, all within a real-world setting.

Each student played an active role in selecting items, counting money, and communicating with store staff, reinforcing their confidence and independence. Activities like these are more than just outings; they are crucial stepping stones that empower our pupils with the skills they need to navigate everyday environments successfully. This experience not only broadened their understanding of shopping but also fostered a sense of accomplishment and teamwork, paving the way for continued personal growth.

By integrating real-life activities into our curriculum, we create meaningful, memorable learning moments that cater to each pupil’s unique needs and abilities, helping them gain invaluable life skills and encouraging lifelong learning.

Diwali

Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in India and holds significant cultural and spiritual importance across Hindu, Sikh, Jain, and some Buddhist communities worldwide. The festival usually spans five days and celebrates the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.

At Bleasdale School, we embrace the rich tapestry of global cultures and seek to learn from them at every opportunity. Our Diwali celebration was a radiant example, filled with vibrant light, joy, and the warmth of coming together. Through music, dance, and stories, we immersed ourselves in the traditions of Diwali, honouring the festival’s message of light overcoming darkness. This celebration not only deepened our understanding of this cherished holiday but also brought our community closer, united in appreciation and respect for the beauty of diverse cultures.

Halloween – A Party in the Hall!

At Bleasdale School, we embraced the Halloween spirit in style! Our hall was transformed into a spook-tacular setting filled with eerie decorations and spine-chilling details, thoughtfully arranged by our dedicated site team. Students enjoyed a Halloween party amid this festive, fright-filled atmosphere. Check out the photo above for a glimpse of our hauntingly decorated hall!
