Get Ready for Michael Rosen Day! – 20/10/2025

Get Ready for Michael Rosen Day!

Next month, we’ll be celebrating one of the nation’s most loved storytellers — Michael Rosen, author of We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. This year’s Michael Rosen Day will feature a Poetry Party on Thursday 13th November, and everyone is invited to join in the fun. The aim of the day is to make reading, listening to, and writing poetry enjoyable and accessible for all, helping children and young people to discover the magic of words.

Theme of the Year: “Funny Food”!

Schools, libraries, bookshops, families and communities across the country will be getting creative with poetry inspired by Michael Rosen’s feast of fabulous food-themed poems.

We’re delighted to share that one of our Seedlings class students will be giving a live reading of their own “Funny Food” poem as part of the celebration.

Let’s look forward to a day filled with laughter, creativity, and the joy of poetry.

Look to the Future Event

Look to the Future was a roaring success last week, bringing together a vibrant mix of providers, parents, and pupils — all united by passion and panache. The event sparked countless engaging conversations and opened up exciting new opportunities for our students to explore their next steps.

From career insights and further education pathways to hands-on workshops and inspiring talks, the day offered something for everyone. It was wonderful to see our pupils asking making meaningful connections and beginning to imagine the many possibilities that lie ahead.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed their time, expertise and enthusiasm to make the event such a memorable and impactful experience. Together, we’re helping our young people look to the future with confidence, curiosity, and ambition.

To Be Pathway Music Concert

What a truly wonderful musical extravaganza! The To Be Pathway Music Concert was a celebration of talent, teamwork and joy, with every pupil showcasing their musical skills and creativity. The atmosphere was electric — full of enthusiasm, engagement and pride.

Parents, guardians, governors and friends of Bleasdale School were full of praise, sharing so many positive and heartfelt comments about the performances. It was inspiring to see our pupils’ confidence shining through and their hard work rewarded with such appreciation.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a memorable success.

Thursday Wellbeing Staff Swim

A huge thank you to our Wellbeing Team for organising the Thursday Wellbeing Staff Swim — a refreshing way to unwind, connect, and recharge after a busy week.

The session offered staff the chance to take a well-deserved break, enjoy some gentle exercise, and spend time together in a relaxed and supportive setting. It’s wonderful to see so many colleagues embracing these wellbeing opportunities and making time for self-care and connection.

Evidence for Learning (EfL)

An incredible 334 entries have been uploaded to Evidence for Learning (EfL) this week — what an outstanding effort!

This impressive engagement reflects the energy and enthusiasm across our school community, particularly following the success of recent events such as Look to the Future and the To Be Pathway Music Extravaganza. It’s wonderful to see such rich evidence of pupils’ learning, creativity, and personal growth being captured and shared.

A huge thank you to all staff for your continued dedication to celebrating pupil achievement and maintaining such high-quality contributions on EfL. Every entry helps to tell the story of our pupils’ progress, participation, and success.

Symbol of the Week: Halloween

Coming up this week:

We are so excited for the week ahead as we prepare to celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights!

Throughout the week, pupils will take part in a range of vibrant and creative activities to explore the traditions and meaning behind this beautiful celebration. From colourful crafts and storytelling to music, dance, and delicious food, there will be plenty of opportunities to learn, share, and enjoy together.
