Inclusion

At Bleasdale School we are fully committed to providing inclusive activities for all our pupils.

Our older students access the local community and Dallam High School.

Lower School

Lower School have developed inclusive links with their mainstream peers at both Yealand Primary and Silverdale St Johns. Each week a group of pupils join their friends at Silverdale St Johns and take part in their Art and DT lessons. They have previously joined in with PE sessions at Yealand.

Butterflies Hub

Following the success of our whole school end of year trip to More Music and Morecambe beach, pupils in the Butterflies Hub are looking forward to visiting the beach each week during the Autumn Term 2023 (weather permitting, of course!).

14-16

Upper School students have taken part in inclusive PE sessions with Sandside Lodge School in Ulverston, developing their physical skills and forming friendships.

We continue our links with Dallam School, taking an active part in their Rebound Therapy lunch club with our friends there.

FE

Students in the 16 – 19 department participate in the community activities both in the local and wider community wherever possible. These include visits to the local swimming pool in Carnforth. In addition to this pupils take part in regular community shopping trips to local supermarkets to practise their skills learnt in class in a real life and functional environment. Each Tuesday a group of students go to Tesco in Carnforth to buy ingredients which they then use to cook their lunch. Some of our students attend More Music to take part in community music leisure sessions, while others attend an inclusive triking session at Salt Ayre Leisure Centre. Those students on the supported employment pathway access appropriate work experience placements or help run our pop up café Bleasdale Brews.

Pupils develop their social skills through the many joint activities with local mainstream schools.
