LSSHTA 2025 Meeting! – 14/07/2025

LSSHTA Special Schools Headteachers Meeting

Last week, we were delighted to welcome Headteachers from special schools across Lancashire to our school. The visit was a wonderful opportunity to share our practices and engage in meaningful professional dialogue with colleagues who share a passion for inclusive education.

It was very inspiring to exchange ideas with leaders who are equally dedicated to supporting children with complex needs. Visits like these remind us of the strength that comes from collaboration and the value of learning from one another.

We look forward to building on these connections and exploring future opportunities to work together for the benefit of our pupils and the wider special school community.

Interviews

Last week, we conducted interviews for both our Cleaner and Midday Welfare Assistant positions. We are pleased to share that we have successfully appointed a candidate who will be taking on both roles.

This dual appointment ensures continuity and care across different parts of the school day and we’re confident they will be a valuable addition to our team. We look forward to welcoming them into our school community and seeing the positive impact they will bring to daily life at school.

New Governors

We are pleased to announce that two new Governors, Phillipa and Darren, have joined our school’s Governing Body. They bring with them a wealth of experience, insight, and a shared commitment to supporting our pupils, staff, and wider school community.

As Governors, they will play a key role in shaping our vision, ensuring high standards, and holding the school to account in its ongoing development.

We warmly welcome Phillipa and Darren and look forward to the valuable contributions they will make in helping our school continue to thrive.

Evidence for Learning (EfL)

A huge well done to Hedgehogs Class, our top contributors this week! They achieved an impressive 92% of their target, showing fantastic focus and effort. Across the school, we gathered 77 pieces of evidence. We also recorded 16 reading entries. Let’s continue encouraging daily reading and celebrating each milestone.

A special mention to Seedlings for their brilliant work in Phase 2 phonics—it’s great to see such strong foundations being laid in early literacy. Remember, catching learning once a day is still important for ensuring we capture all the wonderful things happening in our classrooms.

We also loved the creativity in Maples, especially their engaging tuff tray setup—a fantastic way to spark curiosity and hands-on learning. Finally, a big cheer for Squirrels, who showed great initiative by creating signs for our growing garden. What a lovely way to connect with nature and contribute to our shared space!
