School Council

Our School Council is made up from a representative from each class. Last term the Council have been undergoing re-elections, finding new ways to get their voices heard, and appointing new staff across the school. Amanda who have supported the group during the Autumn term has also prepared a new display of the newly elected group within school.

Last term they were looking at 5 ways well-being:

  • Connect – talk and listen, be there, feel connected. We play parachute games, put balls on the parachute, play board games, musical statues and friendship band games.
  • Give – your time, your words, your presence. We carry out random acts of kindness, recycle our rubbish.
  • Take notice – remember the simple things that give you joy.  We go on walks together, we participate in YOGA and massage and we explore nature.
  • Keep learning – embrace new experiences, see opportunities surprise yourself. We try to learn a new word/sign, listen to new music or read new books.
  • Be Active – do what you can, enjoy what you do, move your mood. We enjoy riding our bikes, accessing the play equipment, dancing with our peers, play target games.

At our Spring Term meeting we decided how we would like to celebrate Easter.  We plumped for an egg hunt and a bonnet parade.  We also talked about what type of musician we would prefer for the Summer Term and we agreed on a blues guitarist.  Each Phase has also discussed where we would like to go for an end of year trip.  Lower Phase would like to go to a farm, Middle School fancy the Space Centre in Preston, whereas the oldest students are hoping to visit a sensory garden.

Next meetings: First Wednesday each Month at 9.30 am in the Lower Hub School Dining Room

Meet the School Council Team

The school council team have regular meetings to discuss things within school. This gives opportunity to promote pupil voice by encouraging pupils to make independent choices and answers.

We are currently working on being learning detectives and exploring what this looks like across school. Keep a look out for more feedback on this, we can’t wait to share it with you.
