Welcome back! – 03/11/2025

Welcome back!

We hope everyone in the Bleasdale Community enjoyed a wonderful and well-deserved half-term break. A heartfelt thank you to all parents, guardians, and staff for your continued dedication and support in helping our pupils thrive throughout the first half of the term. Your commitment truly makes a difference in every child’s progress and wellbeing.

As we lead up to the festive Christmas season, there is so much to look forward to here at Bleasdale! Over the coming weeks, our pupils will be taking part in a range of exciting activities and events designed to celebrate their achievements and bring some festive cheer to our school community. Keep an eye out for updates on Christmas performances, themed learning and ways you can get involved.

Together let’s make this final half-term of 2025 a joyful and memorable one for everyone at Bleasdale School!

Diwali

On the last week of term, we celebrated Diwali at Bleasdale.

Diwali is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in India and among Hindu communities around the world. It’s often called the Festival of Lights. The word Diwali comes from the Sanskrit word Deepavali, which means “row of lights.” It symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.

The stories behind Diwali vary by region and religion, but one of the most common is the return of Lord Rama to his kingdom of Ayodhya after 14 years in exile and his victory over the demon king Ravana. The people celebrated his return by lighting lamps throughout the city.

At Bleasdale, we celebrated Diwali by coming together as a community to learn about the Festival of Lights and the values it represents — kindness, togetherness and the triumph of light over darkness. Pupils enjoyed exploring the traditions of Diwali through a variety of creative and sensory activities. Our classrooms were filled with vibrant colours and the joyful spirit of celebration. It was a wonderful opportunity to embrace cultural learning and celebrate diversity.

Halloween Disco

On the last week of term, we had a spooktacular Halloween Disco in the main hall here at Bleasdale! The hall was transformed with spooky decorations, twinkling lights, and plenty of Halloween spirit. Pupils and staff joined in the fun, arriving in an incredible array of creative costumes — from friendly ghosts and superheroes to pumpkins and witches!

Everyone enjoyed dancing to their favourite songs, playing games and sharing lots of laughter together! It was wonderful to see so many pupils expressing themselves, showing confidence, and celebrating with their friends. A huge thank you to all the staff who helped organise the event and to our families for supporting the pupils with their fantastic costumes and enthusiasm.

It was a perfect way to end the half-term — full of fun, friendship and community spirit!

Evidence for Learning (EfL)

On the last week of term, we had an incredible 336 entries to EfL! This is a fantastic reflection of the dedication, creativity, and progress taking place across all classes at Bleasdale. Each entry showcases the amazing achievements of our pupils, from milestones and communication successes to creativity and curriculum learning.

A huge thank you to our staff for capturing and sharing these meaningful moments, and to our parents and carers who continue to engage so positively with EfL at home. Your feedback, encouragement and involvement make a real difference in celebrating each pupil’s journey.

We look forward to seeing even more brilliant evidence shared during this half-term as our pupils continue to grow, learn and shine!
